Allergens, and why they matter here

Bowls combine many components, and an allergen in one layer may not be obvious from the name of the dish. Recipes on this Site may contain or contact peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, soy, wheat, dairy and eggs. Peanut butter, tahini, soy sauce and chili crisp are all common sources, and prepared products vary by brand. Peanut and tree nut allergies can be severe, so check every label yourself and do not rely on a recipe description. Where we suggest a swap to avoid an allergen, it is a starting point, not a guarantee that a given product is safe for you.

Substitutions

The layer swaps are tested, but swapping changes cooking times, texture and nutrition. Gluten-free and vegan swaps in particular behave differently, and you should judge doneness by the cues in the method rather than the original times.

Nutrition information

Calorie counts and other nutrition figures on this Site are estimates only, calculated from standard ingredient databases and given per bowl as written. Swapping a layer changes them. Actual values vary by brand, substitution, and portion size. If you manage a medical condition, consult a registered dietitian or physician rather than relying on these estimates.

Food safety

Cook poultry to 165 degrees F and other proteins to the internal temperatures recommended by the USDA, measured with a thermometer rather than judged by colour. Several bowls here are suited to preparing ahead: refrigerate components within two hours of cooking, keep them below 40 degrees F, and use within 3 to 4 days. Store crunchy toppings separately so they stay crisp, and dress salads and grains only at serving.

Hot oil

Frying tofu and charring corn both involve hot oil that spits. Keep a lid nearby, keep children away from the stove during these steps, and never add water to a hot oil pan.

No sales, no affiliate links

This Site sells nothing and contains no affiliate links within its recipes. We name no brands and receive no payment, free product, or commission for anything we suggest. Advertising served by third-party networks is clearly marked and separate from our editorial content.

Results may vary

Every recipe is tested before publishing, but equipment and ingredients differ between kitchens. Use listed times as a guide and rely on the cues in each recipe.
